Your Inner Child

You fear that if you make yourself vulnerable you might be rejected. Why do you feel this way? Where does that come from? After all, that is not who you really are. When you are "yourself" you don't act that way. The simple answer is that you learned this behavior early in life.

But while tens of thousands of people risk death and injury racing motorcycles, swimming with sharks or parachute jumping, surprisingly few will earnestly pursue the path to enlightenment.

Spirituality and Life

I wrote a few weeks ago that maybe I could shorten these pieces when I figured out which words were God’s and which one’s were mine. Without consciously thinking about it, I touched on something far deeper than just these writings. Several of you wrote me about that thought and we began a dialogue about the role of spirituality in contemporary life.

Understanding Life

When you read a novel, you don’t want to know the plot before you finish it. That works for novels, but it’s not a very good formula for life. But that’s what a lot of us end up doing. We go from problem to problem, without any real grasp of the bigger picture. If you want to make your life better and easier, it helps to understand what’s really going on, and surprisingly few people do.

Before we proceed, we need to make two things clear: First, you are here to learn to love everything (especially yourself), freely and openly. That is the only reason you are here. Second, anything not directly connected to the first point may be real, but it is not relevant (unless it brings a lesson relating to the first point).

Life – A Short Summary

I get questions about the meaning of life, why we are here, that sort of thing. Now, the interesting thing is that no one wants to hear the real truth. They want some “other” answer. Something more “noble” than the real reason we are here.
